Relive the past! July 21, 2010 James Evans (Texas, USA) When I got Pokemon FireRed, I was expecting some amped up would-be remake of an original classic. Instead, I got a perfect duplicate. It's just like when the games came out 13 years ago, except now it's got much better graphic quality. A must have for any Pokemon fan!
Great game March 27, 2010 TJ (Virginia) I really enjoyed this game, it was a great stroll down memory lane. Fire Red is a remake of the original, generation I games red and blue, with a great mix of new features added on. The game features improved graphics and soundtrack on par with the other GBA games (ruby and sapphire), as well as occasional changes to the story and content. The greatest improvement about this new version in my opinion is its compatibility with the ruby and sapphire games in terms of moves, types and trading pokemon. Several classic pokemon normally unobtainable in newer games can be found and raised here and then traded on to the later games and vice versa.
One of the main reasons I bought the game was to be able to migrate pokemon like charizard and mewtwo to platinum. With my copy of the game, a problem occurred, however, when I attempted to migrate pokemon via pal park on pokemon platinum with the Nintendo DS. The save file was deleted and all my data was lost, which was very frustrating. After some inspection online, I found that plenty of other people had this problem with pokemon fire red on the DS. If you really want to migrate to generation IV but you're worried about the save file being lost, try trading them to another generation III game like ruby or sapphire before migrating them to pal park. Even after all my progress was erased, I still thoroughly enjoyed playing through it and will play through it again in the near future.
If you are like me and really want the game for its starters and rare pokemon, you might prefer to get the new Heart Gold and Soul Silver editions, in which you can obtain all the same pokemon at later points in the game, as well as many other pokemon and access to both kanto and johto, whereas fire red only takes place in kanto.
Got it because of fond memories January 27, 2010 Austin Wright (Arcata, CA) I played the original pokemon red version. I can't say I was a fan of the new stuff or the fixing of the missingno. glitch. It just didn't have the same feel. Oh well.
game play January 21, 2010 Jonathan Cattell Usually before purchasing a game I like to know not only the condition it is in, but if it can still save data. So far I have been pleased and the games purchased have usually been able to function well and I've had no problems. Overall I've enjoyed this game and so far have found no qualms with its condition.
charmander i chose you! December 2, 2009 this is a great game for fans of pokemon it has the ultimate old game 1 red version remade into firered version still they didnt realease it in black and white but now its in coler so be happy afterall would you rather just walk everywhere thats right now you can run plus its classic even thow its new you feel like a classic rests in your hands.
